Chairperson's Message

Vice-President

Market Probe

Mobile devices, applications, and services will soon be a trillion-dollar market. iPhones, iPads, BlackBerrys, Android phones, netbooks, and other devices are invading enterprises at every level. Everybody has them and wants to use them everywhere. Mobility is not just a passing fad – it is the foundation of how enterprises will do business in the future.

Achieving the fully mobile enterprise will not be an easy task. Enterprises must establish policies on which devices and applications they will support and how they will be used. They must also manage devices from introduction through disposal, and acquire and create applications. Furthermore, they must secure mobile devices and applications against loss, theft, and a wide range of threats and attacks. And they must provide the enterprise wireless network that the mobile devices can access. The range of issues is clearly enormous.

However, the rewards of mobility more than outweigh all the operational and security risks.. Enterprises will be transformed by working faster, strengthening relationships with customers and business partners, and providing services everywhere. Mobility will increase growth, create new revenue sources, and speed enterprise responses to changing conditions, new opportunities, and unforeseen events. We have just begun to see the effects mobile devices will have. They will enrich life for people around the world.

The Mobile Computing Summit will provide an interactive venue for practical discussions of the use of this new technology in enterprises. It will include workshops, tutorials, presentations, panels, expert tables, market research, keynotes, and exhibits. It will be well-suited for both experienced users and those just starting to realize what mobile devices and mobile applications can do. It will also offer a place for mobile, desktop, network, security, IT, and technology managers at all experience levels to check out new offerings, share insight, and learn from leaders in the field.

Please join me in taking advantage of this opportunity to trade ideas with colleagues and to gain new perspectives during presentations from leading-edge mobile device makers and related companies. Learn about the latest in devices, platforms, accessories, software, wireless networks, tools, and approaches. Hear from the experts and ask your questions in panels and other interactive sessions. Find out what’s happening in the industry and where it is heading. If you want to be successful acquiring and empowering mobile devices, creating products for them, or working with them at any level, don’t miss the First Annual Mobile Computing Summit. See you there!
